Port Activation Information

Overview

Residence hall rooms have the capability to provide wired access to the network.

Availability

Students can request port activation.

Access

Wired access/port activation is available in residence hall rooms as well as most common areas.

Support 

Support is provided by the Marist Information Technology department.

Additional Information

The following buildings already have their ports activated:

  • Ward Hall
  • Lavelle Hall
  • O'Shea Hall
  • McCormick Hall

You will be notified by email when your port has been activated. Please allow up to 4 business days.

Once the port is activated, visit mynetworksetup.marist.edu for further instructions on how to connect various devices.

Note: Ports do not get deactivated during winter break.

Students with Access Points in their rooms can obtain a wired connection via the green port on the bottom of the unit. ANY device plugged in to the green port must also be added to the Network Self-Service via net.marist.edu as a Wired Device.

Below is an image of a typical wall jack. If your jack has a label on it as pictured below, please indicate this in your port activation request. The port numbers in this example are above and below the port/receptacle respectively.
