New Employee Computer Deployment

Overview

Marist College deploys one laptop or desktop to employees and subsequently replaces this computer on a regular refresh cycle.

Availability

Marist faculty and staff are eligible to receive a computer for their use while employed at Marist College.

Access

Request for a new computer can originate from the employee themselves, or if their start date is in the future, it could be requested by their supervisor. 

Deployment Details

  1. As soon as an offer is made and accepted, the supervisor should put in a request for a computer deployment so that Client Technologies can prepare the device well in advance of the employee's start date. To do this please select the Computer Deployment service from the Service Catalog.
  2. This form will require a personal contact number and email for the new employee. This information is used to address any questions. Prior to deployment, however, the employee's CWID and Marist email are required.
  3. The standard computer deployment includes:
    1. One laptop or desktop. Currently the desktop is an all in one. The complete unit includes a monitor and system unit in one.
    2. Base image software includes:
      1. Operating System - Windows or macOS
      2. Web browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge)
      3. Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, Teams) 
      4. Adobe Creative Cloud (Acrobat Pro pre-installed; users may install additional apps such as Photoshop or InDesign)
      5. Zoom
      6. PowerArchiver 
      7. CrowdStrike Falcon 
      8. Cisco Secure Client (on laptops for VPN access)
  4. The standard computer deployment does not include:
    1. Peripherals such as additional monitors, docking stations, and printers.
    2. These peripherals must be purchased separately from the Computer Store.
  5. Additional software may be requested. Please note that these will only be installed if a license for this product has already been allocated to the new employee. Examples of additional software include:
    1. Visio
    2. Project
    3. SPSS Statistics
    4. Additional software not listed above
