Overview
The Marist fleet of multi-function devices (MFDs) is supported by collaboration between vendors and Marist staff. Marist currently works primarily with Xerox and Konica/Minolta vendors and most office workgroups, our Business Office, and I.T. The machines are considered multi-functional because, in addition to traditional copying, they also are network printers, fax machines and document scanners.
Availability
College office administrators use MFDs in their offices for copying, printing, faxing and scanning.
Access
These devices are located in College offices.
Support
Alexander Podmaniczky is currently the liaison to the vendor sales representatives, while Client Technology supports network integration and distribution of print drivers for office workstations.
Each office workgroup with an MFD has a staff member assigned as the “Key Operator” (Key Op.) who maintains the MFD paper supply, machine consumables and service needs. The Key Op. is responsible for ordering and loading paper and assisting users with replacing toner, drums and waste toner containers. Vendors are responsible for providing repair service and service-related parts, as well as toner, drums and waste toner containers, the cost of which is included in the MFD lease.
Additional Information
All MFDs are on individual 48-month term leases, however, the lease terms start/end dates are staggered throughout the year. The Business Office oversees the vendor payments and does quarterly reconciliation to individual Banner office accounts. At the end of the lease term, the out-going machine is replaced by the next generation machine with the same speed and functions as the retiring machine. Additional features can be added as needed when replacement machines are being proposed by the vendor.
Replacement machines are delivered and installed by the vendor at a mutually agreed-on date and time by the workgroup, I.T. and the vendor. There is a brief period of inactivity as the new machines are registered on the network.
